SEPTEMBER 21, 2012
We are very excited to hear our friend Nigel Sweeney will be rowing the English channel in October in aid of the charity AHOY.
Nigel is a part of a team of 14 men and 2 boats that will be travelling 22 miles to the French coast, rowing all the way. Preparation has involved months of training and effort for the team and we are full of admiration for them.
The AHOY Centre provides life changing water activities and a community for adults and young people, whether able-bodied or disabled. The Charity aims to promote a healthy lifestyle via water activities in London, where this type of sport is not usually accessible. On the River Thames, AHOY uses these activities to teach, train and develop self-confidence. Teamwork is at the heart of this ethos and is available to a wide range of individuals including schools, mixed ability groups, youth groups or just adults looking for some new skills.
Nigel and the lads hope to raise £12,000 per boat to help the charity to continue their good work. Giving is simple and can be done right here: www.justgiving.com/N-Sweeney.
We’re all feeling very inspired over here at Mzuri and would like to wish Nigel and the team the very best of luck for 14th October!
