Do you run a limited company? We thought it might be handy to have a quick reminder concerning the rules associated with signs, stationery and promotional material for your business.
Signage – clear, there and everywhere
You must clearly display a sign that shows your company name at the registered company address and wherever your business operates. However, if you run your business from home, you don’t need to display a sign there.
Any signage needs to be easy to read and visible at all times, even outside of opening hours.
Stationery & Promotional Material – don’t forget the small print
Any company documents, letters and publicity need to include your company’s name.
On business letters, order forms and websites, you must display:
– the company’s registered number
– its registered office address
– where the company is registered (England and Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland)
– the fact that it’s a limited company (you usually do so by spelling out the company’s full name included ‘Limited’ or ‘Ltd’.)
Should you wish to include directors’ names, you need to list all of them.
If you want to show your company’s share capital (how much the shares were worth when you issued them), you need to say how much is ‘paid up’, (owned by shareholders).
These guidelines have been taken from the gov.uk website and are current as of 18/11/2015.
