It’s always nerve-wracking doing the first piece of work for a new client. Will we ‘get’ what they want, will they like the concept that we create, will they like us (!), will we exceed their expectations (as we always aim to do), will the marketing piece that we’re working on with them deliver what the organisation needs?
With an average of 3 – 4 new clients commissioning our services every month, this sense of nervous excitement is a common state at Mzuri, and we have come to relish it.
Our first piece of work with King Edward’s School, Witley, was no exception, not least because we had a 3 week window to design, print and deliver a 20 page report, and to commission a photographer. We recommended the wonderful photographer Jon Fraser of VLA Photography, who we have worked with before on similar commissions, and know that he always delivers.
And he duly did. We were all thrilled when we saw the photos (after picking the disc up from him in a layby near Milford on the way to our meeting with the school…such were the deadlines!) and they work brilliantly in the report, really bringing it to life by using real people, photographed in real-life situations at the school, making it a really genuine reflection of the school.
We were thrilled to be able to work on this project and are delighted with the outcome, and so too was the client. Joanne, the Development Director at the school had this to say:
“Looking after and recognising the donors to King Edward’s School Witley is very important to us, as well as encouraging new supporters to make a gift. We asked Mzuri to produce a brochure which would suit both these purposes and put the human face on a donation by explaining what it means to the life of a child who receives a bursary to study here.
From the first meeting with Katherine, she impressed us with her professional expertise and friendly approach. We were working to a really short timeframe, the copy and design stages were intense but exhilarating. Katherine and Phil accepted my last minute amendments with incredible patience and good grace, working out of hours to hit the deadline. The final brochure exceeded our expectations and has been really positively received by our donors and non-donors – so hopefully it will result in further gifts. I would have no hesitation in recommending Mzuri again – great people, great service, great results.”

We look forward to working on the next project with the school.
