Good news for design

As all of our clients, colleagues, and friends here at Mzuri know, we are everso slightly obsessed with brilliant design; it’s part of what we do, day in and day out. So we were absolutely delighted to see that one of our design heroes has been publically acknowledged as a master in his field.

Jonathan Ive – the British Designer responsible for Apple’s iMac, iPod, iPhone and iPad – has been knighted at Buckingham Palace. Jonathan graduated from Newcastle Polytechnic (now Northumbria University) and worked as a commercial designer before founding a design agency – Tangerine – with three friends. One of their clients was Apple, and they were so impressed with Jonathan, that they persuaded him to join them permanently in 1992.

Sir Jonathan hasn’t looked back since he took over leading the Apple design team in San Francisco in 1996.

Obviously we are keen admirers of Apple’s clean, elegant style, but it also gives us a sense of great pride that it’s down to a Brit. And it should be a great motivation to all designers out there – anything is possible, even a knighthood!

Can we help you with a project?
