SEPTEMBER 21, 2015
Introducing Lucy Gavan, another fantastic work experience student that joined us for a spell this summer. Lucy had the following to say about her experience at Mzuri:
My name is Lucy and I am 16 years old, having just taken my GCSEs. I started my work experience week on the 3rd August, and I was welcomed into the Mzuri family straight away. Katherine and Zoe made me feel comfortable and at home in their office, as did the whole team, and gave me a list of some interesting and enjoyable tasks that I could complete throughout the week. I got the opportunity to write a few potential blog entries for the Mzuri Design Blog, as well as being able to do some research on various aspects of marketing and design, such as typography. I was also able to sit in on a meeting that Katherine and Zoe had with their clients from Butserfest. At which point I was able to see how a real business meeting is carried out, which allowed me to see whether I would enjoy a career in marketing. Through this meeting, I have become more involved with Butserfest and am proud to say that I am the very first Busterfest Champion. I am very excited to attend and maybe even help out at the festival.
I enjoyed my work experience so much I even came back for more! I did just one more day on the 21st August at Mzuri. Before coming to Mzuri, I knew I wanted to go into business, but I did not know what branch I would be suited to. I had thought marketing may be a good fit for me and had also dabbled with the idea of accounting. Work experience at Mzuri has taught me that I definitely want a career in marketing. I may even return in five or so years’ time asking for a job after university!
Thanks for all your hard work Lucy. We’re happy we’ve inspired you and wish you lots of luck on your path to a career in marketing!
