SEPTEMBER 20, 2016
The National Open Art charity has announced the winner for the National Open Art’s World Art Vote with the evocative portrait of ‘Stan’, father-in-law of winning artist Vanessa Jayne.
The picture, a poignant tribute to his life and last few weeks in care, highlights the ‘The Face of Alzheimer’s and captures the imagination of the viewer through the eyes of his carers and family. Vanessa’s picture has beaten 585 artworks to win first prize, with an impressive 18,500 votes cast in the competition. The rest of the winners will be announced at the end of September and there will be more than £50,000 worth of prizes to be awarded.
To showcase just some of the entries to the competition, the NOA have announced an exciting Winter Exhibition later in October. Set amongst the historic backdrop of Mercer’s Hall in London, approximately 170 artworks will be displayed, those having been selected by the NOA’s judging panel.
For information about the exhibition and opening times, you can find further details on their website. The exhibition starts on October 27th and runs until 4th November giving us all plenty of time to visit. This is one event not to be missed and we look forward to seeing the exhibits ourselves.
