Is your business a partnership, or are you registered as a sole trader? We thought it might be handy to have a quick reminder concerning the rules associated with signs, stationery and promotional material for your business.
Stationery & Promotional Material – don’t forget the small print
Partnerships must:
– state on letters, orders, invoices and receipts the names of all partners and the address of the principal office, or otherwise indicate where a list of partners may be inspected if there are too many to list.
– Invoices must state VAT registration number if your business has one.
Sole Traders must:
– include your own name and business address on all business letters, orders and receipts if you are trading under a business name different to your own. This applies to signage too.
– Invoices must state VAT registration number if your business has one.
These guidelines have been taken from the gov.uk website and are current as of 16/11/2015.
Wondering what rules apply for limited companies? Find out more about those in our post: Limited Companies: Signage, Stationery & Promotional Material.
