It’s been an exciting and no doubt exhausting week for local friend Matthew Nobbs as he took to his pedals to complete his 4 day charity cycle ride challenge from London to Paris, covering almost 300 miles. He is cycling his final day tomorrow, where he will cycle 53.69 miles from Compiènge to Paris, the final leg of his 300 mile ride.
Matthew is cycling in aid of Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity, Matthews ‘Fat 2 Fit 2 France’ challenge has not only been to help raise funds for a very worthy cause, but also a way to say thank you to GOSH themselves for all the help, care and support given to Matthew’s son Alexander at the young age of 1 year and 2 months.

To add to the excitement, Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity have thanked Matthew for his support and have announced Matthew to be their inspiring ‘fundraiser of the month’. A privilege to be named so and recognition well earned for such an undertaking.

Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity needs to raise over £50 million each year to make sure the hospital remains the world-class pioneering institution it is today. Support from fundraising events like this helps them to buy vital equipment, fund pioneering research and most importantly rebuild and refurbish some of their hospital site. This redevelopment will allow them to replace inconvenient, cramped outdated wards with new facilities where parents can sleep alongside their child and will mean that children have more space in which to get well.

Matthews target is to raise a massive £5,000 and he is already well on his way to reach this target Matthew hopes to not only reach his target but to go beyond.
